Straight Talk’s Second Android Prepaid Phone: LG Optimus Q

by John on October 15, 2011

Straight Talk recently released its first Android phone, the Samsung Galaxy Precedent, which immediately became one of the best phones available in its lineup (at least in my opinion and for the price).  It works with the Unlimited plan, which is a pretty comprehensive plan in that it gives you all the talk, text, and data you need.  Learn more about the unlimited plan in this post.

Alongside the Samsung Precedent Android, Straight Talk now offers the LG Optimus Q.  The first thing you’ll notice about the Q is that it has a slide out qwerty keypad, so it may be more desirable for people who do a lot of texting (which seems to be everyone these days).  I tend to send a lot more text messages to people–it’s just a lot easier than calling.  It’s a trend that won’t be going away any time soon.  The LG Optimus Q is about $30 more than that Samsung Precedent and has the slightly updated Android operating system.

LG Optimus Q Specs:

3.2 inch touchscreen with a sliding QWERTY keyboard

Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) operating system

MicroSD slot, 3.2 megapixel camera

Bluetooth 3.0

3.5mm headphone jack

Unlimited Plan Specs:

Unlimited Talk

Unlimited Text

Unlimited Web Browsing

$45 per month
