Straight Talk “Unlimited” Prepaid Cell Phone Plan Details

Update!:  The brand new Straight Talk Android phone, the Samsung Galaxy Precedent (Android 2.2), has just been released for sale. Read a review of this new Android Straight Talk phone.

Straight Talk Prepaid Cell Phone PlansStraight Talk is a new prepaid service put on the market by Tracfone, which is already a major player in the prepaid cellular market.  The Straight Talk prepaid cell phone plans (there are two of them) are very competitive and show that the company, which boasts 12 million U.S. subscribers, is serious about getting a lot more business in the pay as you go wireless market.  Read an in-depth review of the Samsung r451c Straight Talk phone.

In recent months, several companies have released very competitive “unlimited” prepaid plans. Boost Mobile was the first to drop prices and cross an unspoken boundary by putting its Monthly Unlimited Prepaid plan on the market.  The plan costs $50 and provides subscribers with unlimited talk time, text messaging, and data usage for web surfing from a cell phone handset.  You might also be interested in reading about the Straight Talk free month of service coupon code.

Some people were wondering how Boost was able to turn a profit as such a low price point and other industry insiders were worried that a price war would ensue.  In some ways it has.  Boost released this plan early this year and other companies soon followed.

Straight Talk Prepaid Cell Phone Plans

As I mentioned, there are two plans from this new brand, and three phones that work on them (and are priced from approximately $30 to $100).  They both operate on 30 day cycles, which means you pay ahead of time before you begin using your phone and 30 later, you have to renew your plan.  You can set your options to have automatic renewal so there is no disruption in your service.

The first plan is a true unlimited phone plan, which provides subscribers with limitless talk time, text messaging, and 30 MB of data use.  One key thing to know is that this service runs on Verizon’s vaunted network, which means Straight Talk plans have the benefit of strong signal quality and better coverage across the United States.

The second plan—and this is very competitive—is cheaper at $30.  This plan comes with 1,000 minutes, 1,000 text messages, and 30 MB of data for web surfing.  1,000 text messages means you can send 33 every day!  That’s a pretty good deal at that price.  Look for this plan to really blow up and become popular. Subscribers could conceivably have cell phone service (including the phone itself) for $400 for the entire year.

New Straight Talk iPhones

One of the most exciting Straight Talk releases is the iPhone 5s, which is available in Gold color.  The phone is one of the most sought after in the world and it’s pretty surprising how quickly it has moved over to the prepaid f0ld.  It’s a really nice phone and one that will pair very nicely with the unlimited plan discussed in this article.

Reasons the Tracfone unlimited prepaid cell phone plans are very good options.

  • They run on a great network.
  • They are priced very aggressively—especially the $30 plan.
  • They have good phone handsets for you to choose from.

The $45 ST plan is pretty good. Although where I live internet service is kind of spotty. but i use the unlimited talk and have no problems. I do talk a lot more on my phone now.

$45 a month is not bad at all for all that service.

Just got a new tracfone and it seems to be stalling on me. Who do I contact?

If you don’t feel like calling tracfone, try to get in touch via Facebook. I’ve heard it’s a pretty good way to get fast help.

How much does Straight Talk’s unlimited plan cost? What kind of phones come with it?

John June 26, 2013 at 4:07 pm

Susan — The plan costs $45 per month. There are some great phones available. Samsung Galaxy S3, iPhone 5, and other less expensive Huawei smartphones.

I’d take a look at Virgin Mobile and Straight Talk if you want an unlimited plan.

Awesome! I’m currently in search of a good situation for my droid phone. There are so many good options for iPhones, I should’ve chose an iPhone!

I really like this plan. It seems that they don’t throttle as much data anymore. Supposedly it’s 8 times faster.

Straight Talk Wireless has a pretty good selection of phones now and even have the iphone, which I decided not to get because I wanted the free phone this time. But the unlimited plan has been exemplary for my needs.
